Drive losses occur on every belt driven
fan. The losses can add as much as 10% - 15% to
the power required to deliver the air as
specified. The losses must be added to the fan's
specified brake horse power in order to attain the
specified performance.
For example, a catalog performance chart for a
fan delivering 1500 CFM shows 0.70 horsepower
without drive losses, may actually draw
0.80 horsepower including the power for
the drive assembly.
